Weekly Challenge: villain

So, the Weekly Challenge is continuing. It's a multi-part challenge, and it's getting big.

First came the hero then came the associate (read: sidekick). Then was the environment.

Now comes. The Counterpoint (or The Villain):

I'm only partially happy with this. And, as ususal, I'm getting less happy as I look at it. It was a bit rushed, no real sketching other than thumbnails and very few references. I really wanted to get it posted before the weekend. Next time, better.

Listening to while posting: Scherzo: Allegro & 4 Finale: Allegro by Ludwig Van. Perform'd by Joseph Krips conducting the London Symphony Orchestra

I once owned a Ludwig Van, but the upholstery drove me scherzo...ouch, that deserves a pun tax.

To my untrained eye, I like the drawing and the prose in this one. Interesting plot developing in the Alaskan rainforest...

that pun hurt, man, it hurt.

okay...
it looks really good but I think it needs much more detail. some shading or cross-hatching, maybe?
the last two panels are by far the best of all. Really cool how you build up to his final evil grin.
that's my two euros.

You're totally right, it is lacking in detail (and line variation). I'm planning on a do-over as it was a bit of a rush job. I just wanted to get it up on the daredetectives.com forum ASAP.

The pacing/layout is about all I really like about it

The storytelling is great. I like the use of captions. I also like the whole crime angle this thing has taken.

One thing that bugged me though was that the guards appear to be walking in different directions in panel two. That’s seems odd when escorting a prisoner.
